Tons of food and officially dog friendly. Fred's has a menu just for your dog. The servings are generous, splitting makes sense. There are ample sitting outside. The only thing I didn't care for is the fact that there are still SMOKERS at the bar. How is it possible? We are in California! Puzzling, but true. It happened the two only times I went there. So, I would go again with the dog and try to stay away from the outside bar.

We love Fred's! Always a great atmosphere, delicious food, and great prices, especially for Old Town. Good drink specials and happy hours. Usually pretty easy to get in, even on busy nights.

This place was really nice and the staff was great. They had 2 cats that just wandered around the outside seating area which i loved. Would definitely go here again if i ever go to San Diego again

Service was bare minimum. Restaurant allows dogs, so too many dogs in dining area. Food was good though.

I was hungry & tired. Noticed Fred's, which is NEW to me. I had Blue Margarita & Enchiladas. Amazingly good! I could relax, looking out to street. Servers were A+ ! My energy is back! 😎🌴

We sat at the bar and had a great experience. Friendly bartenders and delicious margaritas! (We were served by Dee and Courtney) Definitely recommend if you are in the area. They are also dog friendly and have a dog menu! Only dog friendly restaurant In old town!

No trip to San Diego is ever complete without eating at Fred's. They have outdoor dining year 'round. Staff is friendly and helpful. And the food is always very good!

While I have not eaten here, my fiancee and I enjoy coming to Fred's for drinks and people watching. I thoroughly enjoy their margaritas, and the bartenders are always super nice and attentive.The atmosphere is VERY kitschy, but I think it adds to the ambience. We usually come here on weekdays in the late afternoon, and it's never been overcrowded. There's also an outdoor patio for you to enjoy.Overall, it's a fun little tourist spot that is worth checking out at least once.

Awesome atmosphere, friendly severs, food was amazing, will have to visit again. The 1 lbs Burrito was amazing! The tacos were fantastic as well!

Good place to come for a gathering. Recommend a reservation if it's a bigger group, especially on weekends. Food is good. Tortilla chips and salsa are provided and refilled as needed. Food is moderate price. Vegetarian options available. Decor is cool, and staff is friendly.

We were there with a large birthday party... great service... better than average food... that GIANT burrito showed up & I couldn’t believe my eyes.... it would have fed all 13 of us! But we were told it was way too spicy( this was a comment from a SanDiego native Mexican ) ... maybe the cooks donut on purpose so the customer does get it free ?!The one thing that did put us off was that the churros had obviously been fried on shrimp grease? Whoa! All the kids commented on the fist taste too! Your food inspector may need to know this!
